A new, more modern and efficient CMS
Already developed by Nmédia in 2012, the RONA Vendors platform was still hosted on technology that was becoming obsolete. Therefore, the website needed an overhaul to comply with new security standards and take advantage of a more modern, flexible content management system (CMS) that would provide greater autonomy for the company’s managers.
As the company was satisfied with its website and the work carried out by Nmédia on the user experience (UX) and design, the RONA Vendors site was reproduced on a new open‑source CMS, Umbraco. However, work was also done on the site’s operation to simplify and improve the platform’s management and its content by RONA teams, as with the forms for registration requests or product changes.
Website security and content migration
Our teams added data and file security plug‑ins to improve overall website security. The creation and management of supplier accounts have also been simplified. Thanks to secure access, notably through Single Sign‑On (SSO) integration, it is now much easier for RONA teams to share and manage access to sensitive and confidential documents with their suppliers.
An essential step in the redesign was migrating users to the new platform via a secure e‑mail process, inviting them to log on for the first time. Extranet content and documents were also migrated to the new platform, hosted on Microsoft’s Azure Cloud solution. A search engine (for pages and documents) has been implemented, and content can be customized according to the company or user profile.
