Better multisite management and more accessible web content
Nmédia’s collaboration with Maskatel began several years ago with a digital marketing mandate that included managing the brand’s social media. Recently, the company mandated Nmédia’s teams to redesign its various websites to become compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 AA).
Designed to make the Web more accessible and inclusive, these standards include several criteria that encompass just as many disability situations that users may encounter. Examples include colour contrast management, keyboard navigation, and screen readers for those who cannot read.
Criteria that our development and user interface (UI) teams integrated into their iterative development process during this redesign. Our developers also conduct regular testing to ensure compliance with these standards during development. This compliance was then attested by audits carried out by external firms before going live. The WCAG 2.1 AA compliance has enabled Maskatel to stand out from its competitors in terms of the inclusivity and accessibility of its content.
Another of Maskatel’s objectives for this redesign was to reduce the amount of content management systems (CMS) for its various websites to simplify technological maintenance and day‑to‑day operations. Drawing on their experience, Nmédia’s teams were able to overcome the complexity of multisite management by hosting the various platforms in a single CMS, Umbraco.
In addition to this work, other revisions were carried out simultaneously to continue improving the supplier’s various sites. This was the case for visual interfaces, SEO, and tree structures to facilitate user navigation.
